Joshua Williams Is Back. The Titans Secondary Gets a Big Body for Indy.
Titans fans, the secondary just got some help with less than 24 hours to go before Indianapolis.
Our Take: This is a smart move at the right time. Joshua Williams gives an 0-5 defense a 6-foot-3 corner with real experience, and he can help right away on special teams.
The Titans activated Williams from injured reserve on Saturday, per Titans.com's Jim Wyatt, which makes him eligible to play Sunday against the Colts. To open the roster spot, Tennessee waived defensive back Erick Hallett. NFL.com's Saturday roundup lists the same moves.
Williams went on IR on Aug. 31 with a pectoral injury. He signed in March after four seasons in Kansas City, and he has practiced the past two weeks in his return window. Per Titans.com, he has played in 65 career games with 12 starts, with 86 tackles, 18 passes defensed, a sack and an interception. That interception came off Joe Burrow in the AFC Championship Game during his rookie year.
The Titans also named defensive lineman Timmy Horne and safety Isaiah Oliver as gameday elevations.
What to watch: how much Williams plays on defense versus special teams in his first game back, and whether his size helps against the Colts' passing game. NFL.com notes Indianapolis activated tight end Will Mallory from IR too. Kickoff is noon Central (11 AM MT) in Indianapolis.
