Tennessee Titans final: TEN 26, IND 20

By , TitansCountry · · Updated

The Titans finally have a win. Tennessee came back from 13-0 down at halftime to beat the Colts 26-20 in Indianapolis on Sunday and move to 1-5.

Joey Slye was perfect. He made all four field goal tries, from 29, 56, 49 and 44 yards, and the last two came in the final 2:03 to break a 20-20 tie and then put it out of reach.

The comeback turned in a three-minute stretch early in the fourth quarter. Cam Ward found Carnell Tate for an 8-yard touchdown to tie it at 13, and then Oluwafemi Oladejo returned a blocked punt 14 yards for a touchdown and a 20-13 lead. Jonathan Taylor answered with a 4-yard run to tie it again before Slye closed it out.

The offense was thin. Ward went 11 of 22 for 102 yards with a touchdown and an interception, Tony Pollard ran 19 times for 76 yards, and Tate caught six passes for 70 yards. Indianapolis outgained Tennessee 399 to 186 and held the ball for more than 38 minutes.

The defense and special teams won it. Tennessee forced three turnovers, including two Daniel Jones interceptions, and sacked Jones six times. Jeffery Simmons had two sacks and Amani Hooker made 13 tackles.

Our take: it wasn't pretty, but a win built on defense, special teams and a perfect kicker counts the same. Now the offense has to give them more.
