Titans Cut DT Jordan Elliott Over a Facility Incident, Days Before the Browns Come to Nashville
Titans Country, the good vibes from Indy just took a hit inside the building.
Tennessee released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott on Tuesday. In a statement shared by team reporter Jim Wyatt, the Titans said an incident involving Elliott happened at the team facility on Thursday, Oct. 15, that they reviewed it, and that they decided to cut him. The team said it won't comment further, and nobody has reported what the incident actually was.
The timeline lines up with what we saw Sunday. Elliott missed Friday's practice for what the team called personal reasons and was inactive for the 26-20 win at Indianapolis, according to Pro Football Talk.
Our Take: This is a move about the locker room, not the depth chart. Elliott came over from San Francisco this offseason on a two-year deal (USA Today puts it at $8 million) after playing for Robert Saleh with the 49ers, and he'd played all five games before Sunday with one start and 11 tackles. Saleh's staff just got its first win, and moving on this fast says the standard in that building matters more than one rotational body up front. Until the team or Elliott says more, we're not going to guess at what happened.
What to watch: who picks up those interior snaps, whether Tennessee adds a lineman from the practice squad or the street this week, and how the front holds up Sunday against a 4-2 Browns team that drafted Elliott in the third round back in 2020. Titan Up.
